Friday 16 October - Sunday 18 October: Complaint form offline

The supplier of our case management system has confirmed that they are experiencing a significant technical issue.

At present, we have no access to the case management system and we are currently unable to take new Public Service Complaints or provide updates on cases. We are planning on the basis that this could continue for a period of time including next week.

Please be assured we are doing all we can and will provide updates on our website.

Statistics

Annual statistics

We publish our annual statistics at the end of each business year.

Organisations must record and report complaints made at the local level as part of the Model Complaints Handling Procedure. We encourage them to use our published data alongside their own complaint figures to promote learning and improve their services.

Please use the right hand menu to navigate to the business year you are looking for.

Enquiries about SPSO statistics can be sent to statistics@spso.gov.scot.

Complaints in Scotland overview

We record the number of cases which we close after assessment and investigation annually within each local authority.

We have mapped our closed cases against the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) and recorded the percentage of cases closed in the areas of most deprivation in each local authority (deciles 1-4).

This data enables us to better target our support and guidance within deprived areas that have comparatively high or low numbers of complaints.

The data included in this map is based on 2022-23 closed cases and will be updated annually. The SIMD data is due to be updated in 2026.
